Annual fundraiser focused on gathering members of the Grand Rapids community to inform them of our services, organizational gaps and opportunities to press in, as well as hosting a prominent keystone speaker to draw interest and educate our audience and empower them to foster a community free of violence.
This year will feature Chanel Miller. Known publicly as Emily Doe, Chanel is a celebrated author and artist whose powerful memoir, Know My Name, became a New York Times bestseller and a National Book Critics Circle Award winner.
As the survivor of the Stanford University sexual assault case, she exposed the failures of the criminal justice system, particularly after the judge notoriously claimed that a prison sentence for her assailant, Brock Turner, “would have a severe impact on him.” Her powerful victim impact statement ignited a national conversation on sexual violence and accountability. Through her writing, advocacy, and art, she continues to inspire change and amplify the voices of survivors.
