  • About the Position

    The YWCA West Central Michigan is seeking a Human Resources Coordinator to join our Human Resources team. The hiring range is $17.00-$19.58 per hour, dependent on experience. This role will be responsible for providing administrative and operational support to the Human Resources department. This role is responsible for assisting with recruitment, onboarding, employee record management, benefits administration, and HR compliance. The HR Coordinator serves as a key point of contact for employees, ensuring smooth HR processes and an excellent employee experience. This position requires an elevated level of attention to detail and a commitment to setting up and supporting processes while being flexible and positively communicating with internal and external stakeholders.

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Recruitment & Onboarding:

    • Assist in posting job openings on job boards, company websites, and social media platforms.

    • Screen resumes and schedule interviews with hiring managers.

    • Coordinate pre-employment screenings, background checks, and reference checks.

    • Prepare offer letters and new hire paperwork.

    • Facilitate new hire orientation and ensure completion of onboarding tasks.

    HR Administration & Employee Records:

    • Maintain and update employee records, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

    • Track and manage employee status changes, including promotions, terminations, and transfers.

    • Ensure personnel files contain required documentation in compliance with labor laws.

    • Assist with HR audits and reporting.

    Benefits & Payroll Support:

    • Help administer employee benefits, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.

    • Serve as a point of contact for employee benefits questions.

    • Process payroll updates, including changes to employee information and deductions.

    • Serve as backup for payroll processing.

    Employee Relations & Compliance:

    • Assist with employee engagement initiatives and company events.

    • Address routine employee inquiries and escalate complex issues as needed.

    • Help ensure HR policies and procedures comply with labor laws and company policies.

    • Support compliance efforts, including labor law postings, required trainings, and reporting.

    Training & Development Support:

    • Coordinate employee training sessions, including scheduling and tracking attendance.

    • Maintain records of employee training and professional development activities.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & ABILITIES

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

    • 1-3 years of experience in HR, administrative support, or related field.

    • Knowledge of HR processes and employment laws preferred.

    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS software.

    • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization and externally including executive-level administrators, government officials, and staff with an understanding of protocol and confidentiality is required.

    • The ability to occasionally travel and work nights and weekends is required.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    • Light work; mostly sitting and exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds of force frequently for purposes of lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects.

    • Irregular work hours may exist, including early morning, weekends and evenings.

    • Regional travel during the work day is required occasionally.

    • Conditions are subject to occasional exposure to agitated or threatening individuals.

    • Requires concentrated, complex and variable mental efforts, with emphasis on synthesis of information, written and oral communication.

    Deberes y responsabilidades esenciales

    · Brinda servicios de clasificación que incluyen, entre otros, la coordinación de exámenes médico-forenses; detección, gestión y dirección de llamadas de crisis y visitas sin cita previa; proporciona intervención de crisis según sea necesario.

    · Contesta la línea de ayuda y opera función de chat brindando apoyo en caso de crisis, recursos y cualquier información que sea aplicable.

    · Desarrolla y utiliza un amplio conocimiento de los recursos de la comunidad, la programación de la YWCA, y puede ayudar a los clientes a acceder a los recursos necesarios.

    · Brinda apoyo para exámenes médico-forenses según sea necesario, luego de recibir capacitación.

    · Realiza tareas administrativas que incluyen contestar teléfonos, tomar mensajes, contestar el timbre a través del intercomunicador, dar la bienvenida y registrar a los visitantes y clientes, y brindar información de manera cortés y útil.

    · Realiza fotocopias, clasifica el correo, ingresa datos, archiva, ensambla y distribuye materiales, y otras tareas relacionadas.

    · Mantiene los sistemas de información (folletos, volantes y exhibiciones) y la apariencia de las áreas de visitantes/recepción dentro del ARS.

    · Utiliza el sistema Bizstream para programar/cancelar citas para el personal del ARS, abrir/cerrar registros de casos y auditar según sea necesario.

    · Brinda asistencia de personal en el área de recepción del vestíbulo principal y el Centro de asesoramiento según sea necesario, lo que puede incluir el reemplazo del personal de apoyo en vacaciones o licencia por enfermedad en el Centro de asesoramiento y el escritorio principal en la suite de administración. Los deberes incluyen, pero no se limitan a: contestar teléfonos y distribuir correo.

    · Participa en los comités de la organización, según sea necesario.

    · Capacidad de relacionarse con clientes de una manera informada sobre el trauma, brindando empatía, utilizando técnicas de des escalación, también poder brindar ayuda con un plan de seguridad si es necesario.

    · Demostrar conocimientos de procesos de Word, así como aplicaciones de hojas de cálculo.

  • The YWCA West Central Michigan is seeking a Full-time Director of Crisis Intervention Services to join our team. The hiring range is $50,000-$60,00 dependent on experience. This position will report to the Senior Director of Nonresidential Services.

    About the Position

    The Director of Crisis Intervention Services will oversee and provide supervision to Advocacy Resource Services program and staff.

    • Ensures that service delivery in crisis intervention services are of high quality and performed according to the mission, vision, policies, procedures and service philosophy of the YWCA West Central Michigan.

    • Oversees the development and monitoring of the training program for all crisis staff.

    • Provides ongoing individual and group supervision for crisis staff, and availability for clinical supervision with select therapy staff. This includes utilization monitoring to determine staffing needs (including Child Care).

    • Identifies underserved populations and develops protocols with community organizations to ensure effective service provision.

    • Oversees the Master’s Level Intern Program.  Interviews, supervises and evaluates interns.

    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Budget/Finance

    • Monitors crisis, training, and childcare budgets relevant to grant spend-down, appropriate utilization of staff, and input regarding future needs.

    • Monitors and participates in the development of the Advocacy & Resource Services (ARS) budget. Oversees and approves of expenses from this budget.

    Quality Assurance

    • Responsible for monitoring and correcting any deficiencies in documentation regarding, client service planning and report writing, and ensures that documentation meets established standards, as well as client needs.

    • Participates with program directors in designing, scheduling and conducting quality review audits as appropriate to services;

    • Ensures that staff are trained to be aware of, and sensitive to cultural backgrounds and needs.

    General

    • Interacts with local police, hospital and social or human service personnel when advocating for clients and the program.

    • Participates on relevant community committees, teams and task forces as assigned.

    • Participates in YWCA leadership team functions, including but not limited to overall program planning, policy, procedure, and staff development.

    • Represents related issues in the media, as directed by the Senior Director of Nonresidential Services, the CEO or Director of Development.

    • Participates in designing and implementing professional and community trainings and education.

    • Shares in providing staff back-up to volunteer advocates answering the YWCA Helpline and providing advocacy to victims.

    Qualifications

    • Advanced practice degree such as MSW or MA in Counseling preferred; bachelor’s degree required.

    • Prior direct service professional experience with domestic violence and sexual assault victims is preferred.

    • Demonstrated knowledge of trauma-informed practice is required.

    • Experience in program development and government funding compliance is required.

    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively including with those from diverse cultures and backgrounds is required.

    • Must be able to enter and retrieve data using computer systems, systems applications, and other office equipment.

    • Demonstrated leadership ability.

    • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and review service delivery protocols as part of a collaborative team.

    • Excellent written, interpersonal and oral communication skills are required.

    • Has access to and willingness to use personal transportation for business purposes, with compensation as allowed by policy.

    • Ability to be qualified as an approved driver for the YWCA.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    • Irregular work hours may exist, including early morning, weekends and evenings.

    • Regional travel during the workday is required regularly.

    • This position does require some 24/7 on call responsibilities as part of a rotation.

    About the Position

    This position provides case management services to YWCA Safe Connections program participants, with the goal of facilitating parent-child contact in a safe and supportive environment. Case management duties include intake, assessments, reporting, ongoing advocacy and service coordination. Individuals must possess strong customer service skills, adhere to an ethical code of conduct, possess excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to set and maintain boundaries, capability of de-escalating agitated individuals, maintain organization and documentation. The Case Manager is also responsible for co-leading the Safe Connections team, including but not limited to recruiting, training, scheduling, and leading staff as well as management of program resources.

    Who We Are Looking For  

    • Bachelor’s degree in social work (or related field) and 2 years of experience working with families is required. Additional experience in human or social services, particularly regarding knowledge of domestic violence and child abuse, is preferred.

    • Valid MI Driver’s license

    • Access to reliable transportation

    • First Aid/CPR certificates (or obtain certification within 30 days of hire)

    • Experience working with diverse populations

    • Experience with Microsoft Office computer applications required

    • Bilingual is a plus

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    • Work environment includes typical office setting and live supervision in designated visitation rooms. Visitations are potentially unpredictable based upon the degree of stress experienced by participants.

    • Irregular work hours may exist, including early morning, evening, weekends, and holidays.
