A Note from the CEO: Celebrating Women's History Month
As we close out Women’s History Month, we're presented with wonderful opportunities to be inspired by and celebrate amazing women in our world and in our lives. It’s often said that we stand on the shoulders of our foremothers. They carried heavy burdens so that we could stand taller as women today. So rather than stand on their shoulders, I’d like to lift them up – to amplify their voices, to call them into our lives today. There are some words I’ve heard from inspiring women – whether through speeches, songs, or poetry – that ring loudly in my head and in my heart. I love these empowering messages because they can help us all find our own places in the world - rooted in wisdom, thrust forward through challenges, emboldened to question the status quo, and lifted higher in hope. May these words empower us all to pick up the mantle of sisterhood and solidarity.Nikki Giovanni: “Mistakes are the growing pains of wisdom.”Maya Angelou: “We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty”Dolores Huerta: “Walk the street with us into history. Get off the sidewalk.”Indira Gandhi: “Women sometimes go too far, it’s true. But it’s only when you go too far that others listen.”Maya Angelou: “Hope and fear cannot occupy the same space at the same time. Invite one to stay.”
