Fall - Winter 2009/2010
Utilizing the nationally-regarded Girls Inc® curriculum, specific topics for Fall-winter 2009/2010 include:
• Self-Defense Techniques and Violence Prevention
• Preventing Adolescent Pregnancy
• Media Literary
• Increasing skills to resist pressure to use harmful drugs (Substance Abuse Prevention)

September 15, 2009 - March 2, 2010

Girls Inc. Project BoldSM Living Safe & Strong (Ages 9-11)
Engages girls in awareness, discovery, reflection, and action on violence issues in their lives; increase knowledge of community resources and advocacy around female violence prevention.

Girls Inc. Media Literacy SM (Ages 12-14)
Encourages girls to celebrate positive roles for girls and women in media, investigate different types of media, consider fiction versus non-fiction media content, practice creating their own media messages, and tackle issues of concern such as violence and stereotypes in media.

Girls Inc. Friendly PEERsuasionSM (Ages 11-14)
Builds girls’ skills for resisting pressure to use harmful substances such as alcohol, tobacco, household chemicals, and other drugs.

Girls Inc. Preventing Adolescent PregnancySM (Ages 12-14 & 15-18)
Enables girls to develop crucial attitudes & skills for dealing with health and sexuality issues by building their capacity to make good decisions.
